Where to Find Your Serial Number
Pick your type of equipment and see where Hayward, Jandy, Pentair, and Polaris put the label. Then take the number back to the lookup tool.
Start With Your Equipment
Use the number on the manufacturer's product tag. Motors, valves, and accessories often have their own labels, and those aren't the ones you want.
Pumps
Check the label on the pump housing.
Hayward
On the label on the main pump housing.
Don't use the separate tags on the motor.
Jandy
On a label near the outlet pipe.
Don't use the number on the motor label.
Pentair
On the wet end of the pump, the same end as the clear lid.
It can also be on the base of the pump.
Filters
The label is on the tank.
Hayward
On the silver or white data label on the outer tank, near the bottom or along the side seam.
Don't use a number from the top or side valve.
Jandy
On the label on the front of the filter.
Pentair
On the tank body.
Heaters
Check the end of the unit first.
Hayward
On the white data tag on the end of the heater, or behind the front access door on the bottom plate.
Some Heat Pro models have it on the front or inside, at the bottom right of the electrical cover or on the right side of the upper shroud.
Jandy
Inside the heater cabinet, or outside by the vent.
Pentair
At the bottom right, next to the inlet and outlet.
On a hybrid heater it's on the front, lower left.
Heat pumps
Low on the unit.
Pentair
On the lower area of the unit.
Controls and automation
Usually behind a door or cover.
Hayward
Inside or on the edge of the main control panel door.
On an Aqua Rite, look inside the control panel door.
Jandy
On the inside of the door panel.
Pentair
On IntelliTouch and EasyTouch, on the back of the board or a silver sticker behind the door.
IntelliChem has it inside the enclosure wall. Load centers have it in the upper left corner behind the control panel. SunTouch has it on the back panel.
Pool lights
On the light, not the transformer.
Jandy
On a label on the back of the light, or on the light housing.
Pentair
On IntelliBrite, on the back of the light. On GloBrite, on the side of the light inside the niche.
Salt systems and water care
On the power pack or the cell.
Jandy
On the bottom of the power pack, the cell body label, or the bottom of the cell lip.
Pentair
On IntelliChlor, on the back of the unit, opposite the control panel.
Cleaners
Flip it over.
Hayward
On the underside, or beneath the lid or body.
Pentair
On SandShark and Racer, on the back of the cleaner. On Great White, Dorado, and Lil Shark, on the bottom near the bristles.
Kruiser and E-Z Vac suction cleaners have it on the left side of the tubes, or under the handle.
Polaris
On pressure cleaners like the 280, 360, and 380, on the back of the cleaner body.
Older models have it stamped into the plastic. Newer ones use a sticker. On robotic cleaners, check the main housing on the side, back, or underneath. App-connected models like the Alpha iQ also show the device number in the app's pairing settings.
Water features
On the fixture or its mount.
Pentair
On ColorCascade and ColorVision, on the back of the niche. On MagicStream laminars, on the side of the light unit.
MagicBowl water effects have it on the bottom of the bowl mounting surface.

Common questions about finding a serial number.
Which number do I use if there are several on the equipment?
Use the one on the manufacturer's product tag. Motors, valves, and some accessories carry their own labels with their own numbers, and those won't decode as the product you're looking up.
What if the label is worn off or painted over?
Check the packaging, the receipt, or the paperwork from the installer, since the serial number is often printed there too. If none of that turns up, a technician can usually identify the unit from its model and physical features.
Why does the label look different between brands?
Each manufacturer places and formats its labels its own way, and the spot can change between product lines. The blocks on this page are grouped by equipment type so you can compare brands side by side.
Can you find it for me if the equipment is hard to reach?
