From Local Roots to Industry Standards
Grey Shark Pool Services was founded in Oak Island, NC by pool owners who are also rental property owners. We experienced firsthand what happens when pool service is inconsistent: missed visits, green pools before guest arrivals, and equipment failures discovered too late. We built this company to solve those problems for ourselves and our neighbors.
From day one, we chose the path of professional certification over shortcuts.
What Our Certifications Mean
Every technician on our team holds Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification. A CPO is a trained and credentialed professional who has completed nationally recognized pool operations training and passed a comprehensive exam covering water chemistry, sanitation, circulation systems, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. The certification is valid for five years and is widely recognized as the industry standard for competent pool operation.
In North Carolina, public and commercial swimming pools must operate under the supervision of a certified operator in accordance with state health regulations. Our team meets and exceeds those requirements, bringing that same level of operational discipline and compliance to residential and rental properties.
Several members of our team are also Certified Pool Inspectors. We have invested in factory-authorized training with Hayward, Pentair, and Jandy so we can perform diagnostics and warranty-related service locally. Our clients do not get redirected into a national call center queue. They get trained professionals who understand the equipment, the environment, and the regulatory landscape here in coastal North Carolina.
We invest in our technicians through ongoing education. Every team member completes continuing education annually through industry conferences, online coursework, and hands-on training with equipment and chemical manufacturers. Staying current with evolving products, chemistry standards, and best practices is not optional. It is how we operate.
